In order for Polaris to send patron notices via TXT message, the patron's mobile carrier needs to be added to their account in Patron Registration. This is because Polaris sends the notification as an email to the patron's phone number.
If the patron does not provide their mobile carrier or is unsure, there are lookup tools available on the internet, such as https://freecarrierlookup.com/
- To use the Free Carrier Lookup, enter the phone number, complete the security question click Search.
- The tool will provide the carrier that is registered for the phone number.
Some wireless providers, such as Consumer Cellular, can be affiliated with multiple cell providers, making it difficult to determine which option to choose. For these patrons, it's recommended to use the lookup tool and test that notification is successful.
The patron registration workform contains most of the common wireless carriers. If a patron utilizes one that is missing from this list, additional carriers can be added to the list. Submit a ticket to Pinnacle staff, including the patron's phone number and wireless provider.
