Configuring RemoteApp

Initial Setup

Libraries connecting to the Polaris staff client will need to configure a RemoteApp connection to the Polaris Terminal Server. A  zip file with the connection details is available on the Pinnacle Intranet.


  1. Once downloaded, run the RemoteApp - Pinnacle connection file. 
  2. The application will ask to create a connection to https://pinnacle-gate.polarislibrary.com/RDWeb/Feed/webfeed.aspx. Click Next

  3. Windows will then ask for User Name and Password.  This is the password of the Polaris Terminal Server (not the Polaris username)
    • Terminal Server Username's follow the format: PIN\PIN-TS### 
    • Terminal Server Password's vary by library
  4. When complete, the RemoteApp and Desktops window will confirm the number of resources added to the computer. For most users, this will be around 4.



Running the Polaris Application

Once configured, the Polaris applications will be added to the Polaris start menu. To access a folder of all resources

  1. Open the start menu and search for RemoteApp and Desktop Connections




  2. Under the heading for "Pinnacle" select View Resources



  3. The folder that contains all available applications will open.  Many staff prefer to have desktop/start menu shortcuts to Polaris ILS - Production and Polaris ILS - Training.




Updating the Connection

The connection to the RemoteApp will automatically update itself from time to time.  This can also be done manually if Innovative has made changes to the server or a user has been granted access to another application. To update the connection:


  1. Open the start menu and search for RemoteApp and Desktop Connections
  2. Select the Properties button.
  3. Select Update Now
  4. The RemoteApp will display confirmation that the connection has been updated. Any new applications will now appear in the "View Resources" folder.
