OCLC Holdings Maintenance

In order to facilitate interlibrary loan with OCLC, each library's OCLC holdings are updated monthly by Pinnacle staff.  This process is done through the OCLC Holdings Maintenance (OHM) tool developed by staff at SWAN.

Timing

Near the beginning of the month, Pinnacle will send updated holdings information to SWAN.  Near the middle of the month, SWAN will compare the current holdings to the previous set of holdings and update with OCLC accordingly.

PinTech has determined that records should be updated on a 3-month delay.  This prevents other libraries from placing requests on brand new materials and gives libraries a chance to reinstate or replace any items that were in the process of being removed from the catalog.

Items Included in Processing

The OCLC holdings process will include all records that have:

  • At least one 035$a that starts with "(OCoLC"
